Lend your power

South Africa is on the brink of defining its energy future. Right now we’re too reliant on the fossil fuel-generated electricity that makes up the bulk of our carbon emissions. We need more renewable energy in the mix to reduce our emissions and change climate change.

In 2016, despite the success of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP), Eskom refused to sign the full amount of contracts which were awarded as part of the programme.

This effectively put the brakes on renewable energy potential and its many benefits for South Africans.

Thank you for adding your voice to our call for a safe and sustainable future and urging Eskom to lift the brakes on renewable energy plans.

Here are more easy and helpful ways to lend your power beyond the hour.

Remember, also, to celebrate Earth Hour with us by turning off the lights for one hour on 24 March 2018 at 8:30pm as a symbolic gesture against climate change.
